Development Projects






Water Development
IDES constantly works to provide solutions to water problems; either there is too much water (floods) or too little (drought). Recently a water project was completed which provides clean water for two drought-stricken villages in Thailand, north of Chiang Mai. The drought caused a drastic shortage of water. The problem was solved by running a pipeline from a water source three km away to holding tanks in the village. Large holding tanks were also built for the second village.





Central India
One Missionary in India reported to IDES: "The people of India need clean water for drinking, food preparation, washing and bathing. Every summer India experiences a shortage of clean water."

India's water crisis has made current news headlines, with a report that 21% of the country's communicable diseases are connected to contaminated water supplies.

IDES is happy to report that they have assisted with 6 water projects in India in 2007. These projects include 5 wells for each of 2 missions plus another bore hole well, a pond and cistern, water tanker and tractor, and most recently the approval of a water purification system for Lakeview Bible College ad Seminary in Chennai.

Realistically, IDES cannot meet all of India's water needs; but with you help, safe wells and water systems can be provided for our missions.
