URGENT PRAYER NEEDSUpdate - 8-30-2011 - Keep Praying For JapanUpdate From Missionaries In Japan - Dear Prayer Partners, We continue to work daily in the tsunami zone. There are so many amazing things happening right now that I wish I had more time to share them with you. Daily we are meeting with people (some days 100's), serving them, praying with them. We have had large teams up here working with us throughout the month of August. "Please teach me about God," was a request I had recently that brought great joy to my heart! So many good things. However, I need to ask for your prayers for us. We are under great pressure here now and we need your prayers! We face daily the pressures of housing, feeding, organizing transportation and arranging work for the volunteers who continue to come up to work in Tohoku. The workload is intense and while we are working hard to find ways to get help, we are still doing the bulk of organizing, communicating and leading the teams. We are way behind in certain areas of our personal life such as email, finances, newsletters, etc., and would appreciate your prayers that we can find some relief from the daily "relief work" so that we can take time to get caught up. In the meantime, we are doing our best to maintain some semblance of family life as well as remain connected with what continues to happen in Osaka. On top of these things, we would seriously like to have your prayers for some of the bigger things we are wrestling with: 1. Family/Moving: We have been working in the tsunami zone for over 5 months now. I, Chad, have been up here most of the time and our family has been up here together for the last month. We are wrestling with whether or not our family should move up to Ishinomaki as interim workers until other missionaries or Christian workers can come here. There are a few people who are seriously praying now about moving up here more permanently, but they would not be able to be here full-time until likely sometime next year. Are we called by God to be here full time for a season? Leaving the family in Osaka and my going back and forth is hard on us as a family, but moving up here is not exactly an easy option either. Quitting now is not an option. We are seeing and experiencing so much that we have longed for and prayed for over the years. We are open and willing to do whatever God calls us to do, so at this time we are asking Him to make that clear to us. 2. Be One House: Many of you know that in addition to the dojo where we have been hosting teams, we have been renting and fixing up a home that was in the tsunami zone to be a base for future work in this region. The owners have decided to sell the place and have given us the first option to buy it. It is a little more than we had hoped. We need wisdom to know if this is the right place. We have so many amazing relationships in this neighborhood and there is so much good happening. We have until the end of this month (4 more days) to decide. We need your prayers for wisdom. Now! :) Thank you so much for your love, support and encouragement. We know we are not alone in this - your prayers are important! In Him, Chad and Jennifer - Missionaries To Japan Update - 5-17-2011 - The Work ContinuesUpdate From Missionaries In Japan - "We had a great time on Sunday with the karate dojo sensei and his students! Fifty kids and 20 or so parents joined us, as we ate some great food together outside and then went inside to play some games together. Here is one of the comments that the sensei put on his blog:" "Thank you so much to Mr. Chad and all the volunteers for helping us all to enjoy ourselves. I want to get together with you again! I want to eat together with you again and visit some more! I want to practice English and be able to speak it with you! I had a really tough experience with the earthquake, but I am OK now and I want to work really hard on my karate. Someday I want to become the kind of person who can work really hard to help people too. (6th grade student)" "It is hard not to feel "small" in the face of a disaster of such huge proportions. The "seen" is so much easier to see than the "unseen." making it all the more important to hang onto the faith we have in the One who compels us to move, to love with His love and to persevere in the strength of His Spirit. He is bigger than all of this and we are not "small" when we place ourselves in His great hands!" - Please keep lifting up the missionaries working in Japan in prayer. Update - 5-11-2011 - Two Month AnniversaryUpdate From Missionaries In Japan - "Today is two months to the day that we stood horrified, in disbelief, watching the news reports of the earthquake and the following tsunami on our computer screen. What a sad and tragic time this has been. While it has been extremely painful to watch the people we have grown to love so much over the years suffer so terribly, it has been an opportunity to serve and love these people in ways that we would never have imagined. Through the last two months, God has united so many believers here in Kansai and across Japan; He has provided funds and supplies from around the world; and He is using lots of "little" people, working together, in lots of BIG ways across Tohoku. Thank you so much for being a part of this movement through your prayers, your encouragement and your support." - Please keep lifting up the missionaries working in Japan in prayer. Update - 5-10-2011 - Cleaning Out HomesUpdate From Missionaries In Japan - "The team had a great day today, cleaning out a couple of homes in one of the hardest hit areas of Ishinomaki, distributing some supplies and talking with and praying with a man who had lost his wife and only daughter in the tsunami." - Please keep lifting up the missionaries working in Japan in prayer. Update - 5-3-2011 - Distributing Food, Good Will, and Cleaning HomesUpdate From Missionaries In Japan - "Chad said that today's BBQ was again a "raging success" - they had lots of personal to deepen rela different loca distribution and he thought that at least 150 people from the neighborhood came. When I asked Chad if they had enough food for that many, he said, Nope! Sounds like a good 5 loaves and 2 fish story to me! This morning, before the barbecue, the group broke into six teams and fanned out to clean homes of people who had expressed a need for help. Some even made it to two loca numbers at the dojo. There are over 60 people sleeping there tonight with not much wiggle room." Update - 4-25-2011 - Please Keep Praying"We are really feeling the attacks of Satan tonight. In many different ways, it seems like he is doing his best to prevent us from moving forward. We are entering territory that he has had a stronghold over for generations, particularly the Karate Dojo, and Satan is not going to sit by and let us in easily. Without going into details, please let us ask you to pray hard tonight for our relationship with the owner of the dojo. He has been strict, then friendly and now is moving back into the strict side again. Satan's strongholds are very real and present in this family and in this place. Yet our God is stronger and we are confident that He has led us here and has prepared the way for a spiritual victory. Please pray!! Pray particularly for Beth, Ken and Papa and Mama Kitani as they need wisdom, love and patience in their (our) relationship with the Dojo owner." Update - 4-18-2011 - Getting Known In The Area"Chad and the team had a worship time outside at a park in Ishinomaki today. He said they were all really encouraged by their time together before God. Afterwards, they went back to the apartment area they have been visiting since the beginning. He said there was a huge line of over 100 people who waited patiently to get supplies. When they were finished, they stayed around and talked to people. They are known by name now in this area. All of this comes at a time when those who did survive are still living without electricity, water, gas and a regular food supply! Please pray for Gods mercy and grace to be poured out upon these people!" We will be working in Japan for a very long time so it is not too late to give to this disaster. To donate online click here. Update - 4-14-2011 - Chad and Jennifer Huddleston Missionaries In Japan"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. " Gal. 6:9 "This is the verse that I feel God gave me this afternoon as I was fighting against discouragement and fatigue. We have all been going so hard! Thank you, thank you, everyone for your help over this last month. Without everyone working together, we would not have been able to do much at all. Instead, from Kansai, we have sent 23 van loads, 4 Hi-Ace loads, 1 Kei truck load and 5 truck loads of relief supplies to Tohoku! This totals more than 23 tons! And our trucks and vans have gone back and forth from Sendai with supplies as well! No wonder we are so tired!" "Obviously, we are not going to solve the problems of Tohoku by ourselves, or overnight here. This needs to be a long term effort and we cannot go at a sprint pace. As we work together, we can find ways to "carry each other's burdens." The important thing, I feel, is that we continue to be the body of Christ, the beautiful body that I have seen working together over the last month. Let us not allow Satan to interfere with the work that God has put before us. And through it all, may God be the Only One who receives glory for what is accomplished through us." - Please Keep Praying For All The Workers In Japan. Update - 4-11-2011 - Update From A Japan Missionary"The spirit of unity is alive and well - praise God! Walls are breaking and hearts are uniting as we come together, give God the glory, and seek together how He wants to use us to love and serve the people of Tohoku. We gathered to worship, pray, listen to God, hear testimonies from people who have gone to serve in Tohoku and catch a vision together for what God is calling us to do over the long term. I feel like our gathering itself was an offering of love to God, offering ourselves as His body, united and willing to be used in big and small ways, here in Kansai, or up in Tohoku. No matter the place or the size of the role we play, God has a way that He wants each of us to serve. May we serve faithfully, and may we always give Him the glory for the outcome. Our team in Tohoku spent time together as well in worship and seeking rest in His presence. They did some shopping and preparation for food distribution tomorrow, but it was a relatively and much-needed break for them. Pray for us as we prepare for teams to head up on Tuesday and Friday this week." We will be working in Japan for a very long time so it is not too late to give to this disaster. Over 100 people were injured but as of now no damage has been reported to the nuclear power plant but that still remains the biggest problem in getting aid to the people of Japan. IDES is working with five groups that are able to get aid to the people of Japan. Keep praying for these missionaries as they bring help and hope in Jesus name. Update - 3-21-2011 - Keep Praying For JapanWorkers at the nuclear power plant in Japan had to evacuate because of smoke. Please keep praying for the workers there and also for our missionary partners. Japan is only 1% Christian and we have an opportunity to share the Gospel with the people of Japan. Our missionary partners plan to distribute clean food, clean water, and blankets to the area as many are without food, water, or shelter. Update- 3-15-2011IDES has made contact with missionaries on the field and will be getting aid to the people in this time of need. One of our contacts will be Team Expansion Japan. They have six units there (two teams) in Osaka and Tokyo. Here is an excerpt from an e-mail, from one of their missionaries, Chad Huddleston, in Osaka."It has been a trying and sad time in so many ways: whole towns are gone, thousands upon thousands are without homes and businesses. The news coverage, especially as people's personal videos begin to hit the channels, is simply horrific. And the unknown factor of a nuclear meltdown in the same area looms over it all. But we know that our God is Good and that His desire is to turn this situation around so that many will find peace and comfort and He will be glorified. This is the time for the Christians in Japan (as few as they are! less than 1%) to unite, rise up and be the light. We cannot allow this opportunity to love to pass us by. I ask you to lift us up in prayer." They plan to distribute food and clean water to the area as of now and hopefully will be able to help in other ways in the future. Give today and know that 100% of your donation will go to help Japan. Click here to donate online.
