Day Thirty Five - 2011Today we are focusing on all those who have or will be fasting during the manna project. There is still time to pick a day and fast for world hunger needs. Thank you to all that have participated so far. We have had some people even decide to only eat rice and beans or the kids against hunger food for an entire month. Gail Moffitt wrote, "For the month of September I am fasting and praying for those who are hungry in our community and around the world. Especially the famine in several African countries. I am eating one meal a day, only drinking water and having no dessert. It has been an amazing 8 days. Still fasting - I've noticed it being harder a for few days now, just ready to be done with it, I think. Then I remember those who have no choice but to be hungry. I find it hard to know how to pray for those in famine areas and especially those in Somalia with the violence all around them. It is good to know that God is God and sees all things. What a comfort that he is real and alive and bigger than the difficulties of this world. God is there to pull me through the hunger pains as he does those around the world." Thanks Gail and all of those who have participated thus far.Day Thirty Four - 2011Today is Kenya. Here is an IDES food distribution with CMF.

Day Two - 2011

Food can not be sent into Somalia because of violence but IDES is helping Somalian refugees outside of Somalia. Please pray that the violence will stop and that more food will become available. All of East Africa is suffering from an extreme famine including, Kenya, Tanzania, and Somalia. IDES is also helping and partnering with organizations in Kenya and Tanzania to help with the famine in those areas as well. Today's challenge: Pick a day this weekend or sometime next week to try and eat on only $2.00 for the entire day. Most in the world live on $2.00 or less so challenge your family or youth group to do the same. Then give the money you would have spent on food to the IDES manna project to help with these food needs.
