"And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears, we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming." - 1 John 2:28
Here we are just 4 days from celebrating the birthday of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Let that sink in: Jesus, Lord of the Universe, King of kings, Ruler of rulers, Son of God -- born into our world as a little baby human being. Think about the massive power of this true fact! GOD became man. The Almighty became the all-lowly...for us. For you, and for me. To save us from our sins and to save us from death.
Christmas is more than just a birthday. It is a collision of realities.
Christmas is the reality of our utter sinfulness and complete rejection of who God is and what He aims to do in our world -- vs. -- the reality of our loving and merciful and gracious Heavenly Father sending his one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to destroy our sinful rejection and take our place on the Cross, satisfying the wrath of God, while simultaneously purifying us and sanctifying us to be His dearly beloved children.
That is Christmas.
Brothers and sisters, Christmas is a Gospel Celebration. Our prayer at IDES is that you will join us in spreading this Good News, (the GREATEST News in all of history), to your families, your friends, your coworkers, and your neighbors. Whether it be through word or through deed, we have a responsibility to spread this message of hope to those who have not heard, and time is of the essence.
Let us approach the manger in hope of the grace we will receive. And let us approach the throne in full confidence of what Jesus has secured for us, those who trust in his glorious Name .
"Abide in him."
