Instead of our normally scheduled Devotional Blog post this week, we are humbly asking you to join us in prayer.
IDES was recently blessed with the approval to ship a container of around 260,000 servings of our nutritious GAP Meals to refugee and internally-displaced families who are suffering in Afghanistan. Last week, the shipment was put on delay due to concerns over the ongoing violence near the recipients' location.
The violence has occurred for several years now, but has recently been more dangerous for those who are a part of marginalized communities in need.
In some cases, it has been reported that the militarized groups perpetuating the violence have attempted to intercept humanitarian aid shipments and sell / use the items on the black-market.
Of course, this is a major concern, and IDES' primary goal is to safely deliver our GAP Meals into the hands of our mission partners in Afghanistan, who will ensure that the emergency food is distributed amongst the designated families with integrity and efficiency, all in the loving name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that God is sovereign, and that He is in control of this situation. Although we are saddened that the shipment has been delayed, we are thankful that our mission partners and our shipping partners share our desire for safety, integrity, and efficiency.
In God's good and gracious timing, the violence will subside and the meals will be delivered.
Please join us now in praying for our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan who are working hard to serve these refugee and internally-displaced families; for our shipping partners here in the U.S. and there in Afghanistan who are working on the logistics; and for the militarized groups that are causing such suffering.
Thank you for partnering with us. Without your help, the GAP Food-Packing program would not even exist. Please stay tuned and keep praying -- we will update you with any new information when the situation changes.
