Josimar & Hannah Alarcon

El Salvador has an immense love for soccer and strongly identifies with the national soccer team “La Selecta”. The sport offers a deep cultural immersion, naturally being an open door to most Salvadorans’ hearts. Josi is one of those Salvadorans that was moved by soccer. Growing up, soccer helped him to have a close relationship with his father, provided a way of escape from drugs and gangs, and taught him healthy habits and disciplines for his life. But even with all of the positives soccer brought, there was still an emptiness in his heart. After entering into a relationship with Jesus Christ, Josi felt the strong call on his life to bring Jesus into sports, because without Him we will always be left searching.

The Alarcon Cecil ministry uses sports, especially soccer, as a strategy to connect with different communities. We identify the specific needs of each community as we build relationships, to then plant Christ centered social development projects with the values of Faith, Family, and Fellowship. We are teaching this generation of young athletes that success goes beyond winning, which is why we emphasize the importance of holistic growth: Spiritual, Emotional, Physical, and Intellectual. We do this with the hope to share the Gospel and disciple youth as we enrich the next generations.
