June 2026
On Thursday, June 25, two back-to-back earthquakes measuring 7.1 and 7.5 struck Venezuela along the San Sebastian fault system within a minute of each other, causing severe widespread damage and building collapses. As soon as the news broke, IDES began reaching out to provide emergency assistance.
Currently, IDES is working with reliable Christian partners local to the affected region. We are focusing on delivering critical supplies, including food, clean water, blankets, hygiene kits, and shelter support, while sharing the compassionate presence of Christ with communities enduring significant loss. Our current commitment is only the beginning. Recovery from a disaster is an ongoing process, and the needs often continue long after the initial response. As additional funding is received, we hope to reach more families with essential supplies while giving our ministry partners the flexibility to respond to the greatest needs as they arise.
